Good News of the Week: Good News for Good Friends

It's Saturday so it's time to look at the good news of the week. Again, we had no submissions from any of our readers, but there's still good news that should be spread. And since we had no input from you guys, you'll have to live with what I deem as good news. So, here we go:

After a health scare earlier this week, our partner in crime, George Root is home and doing fine. He gave us a bit of a start when he texted us with some of his latest troubles. Luckily, at least from what he is telling us, George is home and working again to help bring some of the great content on Niagara's Watercooler.

At the same time, even better news is that George and Craig are getting along just fine. Despite a series of tweets on Twitter, it was all just an April Fool's joke. I can assure you we really don't believe anything that was written. At the same time, it is very difficult to write something negative about a guy you really like. It was not easy to come up with derogatory statements about George.

A big congratulations goes out to my nephew, Derick Sears, who was accepted into the music program at Buffalo State College along with an accompanying scholarship. He'll be transferring from SUNY Stony Brook closer to home. We wish him the best of luck as he moves forward with his education.

Another big congratulations goes out to Tom Lupo of the Lockport Fire Department. While currently an Assistant Chief in Lockport, Lupo will also take on the job of Chief of the Medina Fire Department. He was voted in with a unanimous decision by the Medina Village Board.

Remember, if there is something you'd like to see printed as good news, please email us at niagaraswatercooler@gmail.com . We'll take any submissions under consideration. Thanks for reading.

Craig Bacon thinks good news is overlooked far too often. He's eagerly anticipating the first suggestion from all our loyal readers.

Good News of the Week: Safe From Bunnies

George and I were discussing the other day that we would like to have a weekly column dedicated to the good news of the week. When almost every outlet seems to be fixated on the horrible things that are happening in the world, we decided to focus on those good stories that seemingly always get ignored. We put a call out to all our followers to keep us informed of some good stories that they'd like to see printed. While we got a grand total of none, we're hoping that as we go forward, you'll participate. Just email us at niagaraswatercooler@gmail.com

In no particular order, here are the good stories of the week of March 20-26:

These bunnies keep staring at me. They must be rabid!

1. Thanks to an earlier report in The Cooler, there are far less rabid, chocolate bunnies on the streets of Niagara County this morning. According to George Root, he has been inundated with bunnies to be tested. So far, none have been confirmed to be rabid, but as Root says, "It's better to be safe than sorry." George also notes that he will continue to test chocolate bunnies for the ensuing week.

2. Josephine Bacon lost her first tooth on Friday afternoon. It had been loose all week, but Grammy assisted with the final extraction. According the Josephine, the Tooth Fairy left her "one dollar, all for me!" In an interview with the Tooth Fairy, she stated, "I'm glad that the price of teeth have not increased at the rate of inflation." We at The Cooler wholeheartedly agree.

3. Niagara's Watercooler will soon be having a guest columnist joining our ranks. Check our page on Saturdays for a new column about college life from SUNY Stony Brook freshman, Derick Sears.

Remember, if you have any ideas for a good news story, please let us know. Leave a comment on our Facebook page, or simply email us at niagaraswatercooler@gmail.com.

Looking for Good Stories That Make our Community Great

We at Niagara’s Watercooler have been thinking about adding a new weekly feature that focuses on all the good that happens in our community. Everyone loves a happy story. So, we’ll be collecting the best of the best from around the area, and we’re looking for some help.

If you know of  story that is feel-good and is local, please send us an email at niagaraswatercooler@gmail.com with as many details as you can give. Maybe it will be the best of stories for the week if there are enough stories. It doesn’t matter if the story is about Tom Lupo saving a cat from a tree, or George Root leaving the house. Send us the stories that make you feel good, and then check for what we think makes our community great each week.

Be sure to check it out each Saturday, and don’t forget to email us at niagaraswatercooler@gmail.com .
