PowerHawks Earn 4-2 Victory in Oswego

The Niagara Falls PowerHawks returned to action Saturday night for their third straight game against the Oswego Stampede. After a pair of wins last weekend against the Stampede at Dwyer Arena, the PowerHawks skated away with a 4-2 victory at the Anthony J. Crisafulli rink in Oswego. The same teams will face off again this afternoon at 1pm.

Brandon Schweickert opened the scoring for the PowerHawks with a power play goal at 13:25 of the first period. Frankie Bodami provided the lone assist. At 17:07, Brandon Snyder extended the lead to 2-0, with assists coming from Andrew Logar and Gage Mueller.

Oswego’s Rich Hart cut into the Niagara Falls’ lead 5:43 into the second period on an unassisted tally. Stephen Minichiello gave the PowerHawks back their two-goal lead at 13:09. His brother, Matthew, assisted. Gage Mueller pushed the lead to 4-1 on a power play goal at 15:38. Stephen Minichiello and Logar were credited with the assists.

Jameson Simmonds scored the lone goal of the third period, pulling Oswego to within two. The goal, coming at 12:27, was assisted by Josh Wallace and Jared Berry.

Kris Augustine stopped 29 of 31 shots in the victory for the PowerHawks. Steven Kozikoski was able to turn away 48 of the 52 shots he faced.

With two more power play goals, the Niagara Falls PowerHawks have moved into the top ten in the NA3HL. They are currently ranked 9th in the league with a power play percentage of 30.6%. They have scored 34 goals on 111 extra man chances.
