The Niagara Falls PowerHawks dropped a 4-2 decision to the Skylands Kings Saturday evening at Skylands Ice World in Stockholm, New Jersey. The same two teams will face off again Sunday at noon at the Skylands Ice World.
Anthony Tomassi opened the scoring for the PowerHawks at 3:06 of the first period. Anthony Arbatosky provided the assist. The Kings answered only 88 seconds later when Dylan Dinzik put one behind Theo Heropoulas. The PowerHawks regained the lead at 13:10 when Matthew Minichiello scored with an assist from Branden Tripi. Less than a minute later, Eric Vanderhoff tied the game. The teams went into the first intermission tied 2-2.
There was no scoring in the second period, but the Kings extended their lead in the third period with a pair of goals. Craig Garrigan scored at 10:26, and Dylan Dinzik scored a second time at 14:25. That would close out the goals for the night.
Theo Heropoulas made 29 saves on 33 shots for the PowerHawks. Mathias Yttereng turned away 46 of the 48 shots thrown at him for the Kings.
Niagara Falls is now 1-4 on the season. Skylands is 1-2 after three games.
