Express Delivers Shutout to Vengeance

Andrew Logar scored the lone goal of the game Friday evening as the Lockport Express defeated the Pittsburgh Vengeance in NA3HL action. The win moves the Express two points closer to the final playoff spot as Roc City dropped their decision to Binghamton 5-1. Lockport and Pittsburgh will face off again this evening at 6:30 in Pittsburgh for the second half of the home and home.
Logar’s goal came just past halfway of the first period, at 11:14 and was assisted by Blake Bennett and Luca Mazzo. From the opening puck drop, the game was fast paced and physical. Two players, one from each team, were ejected for fighting early in the game, and another was given the hook in the second period. Play settled down for the third period, with the pace from the beginning of the game maintained for nearly all the contest.

Lockport was out shot 34-26 by Pittsburgh. The Vengeance out shot the Express 27-13 in the first two periods, but Lockport closed the gap with a 13-shot third period. Sam Fitzpatrick stopped all 34 shots thrown at him. Pittsburgh goalie, Joel De Simone, made 25 stops. Both netminders made some incredible saves to keep the score low.

Lockport’s next game after today will be Friday, February 10th when they visit the Roc City Royals at the Lakeshore Hockey Arena. Their next home games will be February 17-19 at the Cornerstone Ice Arena. They will be playing against Roc City for the Friday night game, and the Skylands Kings for the Saturday and Sunday games.
