After a two week break for the holidays, the Lockport Express will be back in action this weekend as they travel to Jersey Shore to take on the Wildcats. There will be two games, with the Saturday game taking place at 7:15pm, and the Sunday game facing off at 11:00am. The Express are currently on a three-game winning streak and have won 4 out of the last 5.The Express have now moved ahead of the Skylands Kings in the standings holding four games in hand.
Meanwhile, Jersey Shore came away from the Winter Showcase in Blaine, Minnesota with three consecutive losses, and sit 18 points out of first place in the Northeast Division. Binghamton continues to lead the league with 57 points, one point ahead of the Metro Jets.
Coming off the three wins at the Showcase, two Lockport players were recognized by the league. Forward Blake Bennett was named the Northeast Divisional Star of the Week after tallying 6 goals and 5 assists in Blaine. Linemate Andrew Logar received an Honorable Mention for the same category.
For the Wildcats, rookie David Vaysburg has signed a tender with the Minnesota Wilderness of the NAHL. The 16-year old leads Jersey Shore in scoring with 35 points in 33 games. He has 9 goals and 26 assists.
The Express will stay on the road, spending the weekend of January 13-15, at the Skylands Kings complex in New Jersey. The will then play a home and home series with the Roc City Royals, starting with a game in Rochester on January 20th. They will host the Royals at Cornerstone Arena on Saturday, January 21, at 8:00pm.
