Let's Eat! - Grovers Bar and Grill

Yeah, this one is a bit of a drive out of Lockport, but it is well worth it. After years of driving by Grovers and never stopping in but hearing amazing things about it, I finally decided to check it out. Not only was I pleasantly surprised, I found a place worth leaving the house for once in a while. There is a lot to Grovers Bar and Grill that make it well worth the trip.

This Week's Eatery: Grover Bar and Grill
Address: 9160 Transit Road, East Amherst, NY
Phone: 716-636-1803

This was not a trip to new restaurant (new to me) that I was hesitant about. By the time I had finally made my way to Grovers, I had heard so much about it that I was afraid I was going to be disappointed. But when my meal was over, I had eaten the best cheeseburger I had ever had in my life and seen so many other meal choices I wanted to try that I knew I would be back.

Grovers is known for its burgers, so you will want to stick with what they know on your first trip. Much to my elation, Grovers has managed to resist the new coated french fry fad and serves real fries. The rolls they use for their burgers taste and look homemade. Even if they are not homemade, they still add a lot to the experience. The burgers are thick and cooked perfectly, and these are the kinds of burgers you almost have to eat with a knife and fork.

The ambiance in Grovers is subdued and very warm. We took a seat next to the front windows and just watched the sights on Transit road during lunch. It was an extremely relaxing environment, and the great service staff only helped with that. Everyone was extremely attentive and very friendly. It was a pleasant experience from beginning to end.

Being a reviewer, I have to be honest and say that I felt that Grovers was a little pricey. To me, you get great value with what you pay. But for some people, that price tag could be a reason not to come back. I definitely had no problem with the cost, and I will definitely be going back.

As I looked around me during my meal, I saw sandwiches and entrees of all kinds being carried from one table to the next. The portions were huge, and everything had an amazing aroma to it. The simple fact is that I cannot wait to get back to Grovers to see what else they have on their pretty versatile menu.
