Soaring With the PowerHawks Week 7

After a dominating performance last weekend, the Niagara Falls PowerHawks are prepared to set flight for a pair of roadtrips this week. They start this week’s action with a short trip to Jamestown for a Thursday morning matchup with the Southern Tier Xpress, before heading to Binghamton for a pair of games against the Junior Senators on Saturday and Sunday.

The PowerHawks won both games last weekend against the visiting Skylands Kings. Saturday’s matchup resulted in a 7-3 victory for the home team, while Sunday’s game was a 9-1 win for the Hawks. Andrew Logar led the way with seven goals and four assists on the weekend, earning him Bauer Divisional Star of the Week for the Northeast Division.

The Southern Tier Xpress are coming off a pair of losses against their rivals, the Pittsburgh Vengeance. In Friday’s game, they were defeated 5-1. Saturday’s game had a nearly identical outcome with a 5-0 loss. They will be heading to Lansing for games against the Wolves after their game against Niagara Falls.

The Binghamton Junior Senators swept the Jersey Shore Wildcats last weekend by a combined score of 18-6. Friday saw a 6-1 win, with 6-2 and 6-3 victories to complete the weekend sweep. All three games were at Jersey Shore. Binghamton trails Jersey Shore in the standings by four points, but they have played six less games than the Wildcats.
