Let's Eat! - Sub Delicious
This week's eatery: Sub Delicious
Address: 15 Locust Street, Lockport, NY
It is true when people say that a restaurant that has been in business for a long time must be doing something right. That is the case with Sub Delicious. This is one of those businesses that has fed people who don't even realize they are eating Sub Delicious food. If you work at a business in downtown Lockport and pizza or subs magically show up in the break room every once in a while, there is a really good chance that the food came from Sub Delicious, and has for a long time.
Sub Delicious has been hosting buffets and feeding Lockport for years, and in that span of time it is normal that some people are just not going to be happy. But in the grand scheme of things, Lockport loves itself some Sub Delicious and there are good reasons why.
When I do reviews, I always base them on my eat-in experiences. Sub Delicious has one of the largest dining rooms for a sub place in Lockport. It is rivaled only by Mark's, and Sub Delicious had their big dining room first. Whenever I have gone to Sub Delicious, the service has been very cordial and quick. I never had to wait very long for my order, and I never had a bad experience with the staff. To the contrary, they have always been very professional with me.
There is something about sitting in a downtown restaurant with a big, front picture window that adds to the experience. Whenever I eat at Sub Delicious, I always position myself to be able to look out their picture windows. I don't know if you have ever really stopped to notice it before, but Sub Delicious offers a helluva view of the city to go along with your meal.
As for the food, I have never had a bad meal at Sub Delicious. At the same time, I have never had a meal there that knocked my socks off either. The pizza at Sub Delicious is addicting. I have had plenty of slices of Sub Delicious pizza and I always find room for more. In my opinion, Sub Delicious does pizza much better than they do subs.
The subs at Sub Delicious are good, but they can seem almost bland at times. In my experience, the quality of your sub depends on what sub you order. Sometimes they skimp a little on the condiments, and that causes the flavor to suffer. Other times they get it just right, and those times are hard to beat. The menu has plenty of choices, and you can order custom options if you like.
I go to Sub Delicious once a month or so, and it seems like every function I go to downtown offers Sub Delicious pizza. The place is a Lockport icon, and it will be around for many more years to come.
