Genealogical Society to Present Program on Home History

Have you ever wondered about the history of your house, church or other building?

Whether you're looking for documentation for historic status or are just plain inquisitive join us as the Niagara County Genealogical Society hosts the free program, “Mapping Your Home’s Genealogy’ on Wednesday, June 28th, 7pm at 215 Niagara Street in Lockport.

Janice Wiegley, a librarian in our NCGS library, will help us understand how to conduct research and track down historical facts to create a history of your home or location.

Wiegley has been doing genealogy for more than 20 years. Her maternal side has deep roots in Niagara County. Her ancestral search began with a family legend that they were descended from Peregrine White, the first known English child born to the pilgrims in America. She has degrees from the University of Arizona, Herkimer College, Alfred State College and plans on a graduate certificate in genealogical studies from Boston University in the near future.
