The NA3HL playoffs got underway over this past weekend, and will begin the next round Thursday. The Northeast Division will be represented in that round by the Binghamton Junior Senators and the Jersey Shore Wildcats. Both teams swept their opponents last weekend to move to the next round.
The number one seed, Binghamton, took on the Roc City Royals Friday and Saturday, winning by a combined score of 28-2. They won the first game 15-1, and the second game 13-1. The Junior Senators had 16 different players score at least a point in the two game series. Jeremy Wilber led the way with 9 points (4 goals, 5 assists), and Conor Landrigan led the team with 5 goals. Peter Izzo and Zach Buchholz scored the goals for Roc City.
In the Jersey Shore/Syracuse matchup, Jersey Shore walked away with a 4-2 victory on Friday night, and a 7-3 win Saturday. Jersey Shore’s Dylan Plsek was the leading scorer for the Wildcats with 3 goals and 3 assists. For Syracuse, three assists on the scoresheet for Rocco DeRollo labeled him the team leader for the series.
The Binghamton Junior Senators will host the Jersey Shore Wildcats in Game One on Friday, March 24th at the Ice House Sports Complex. The series will then shift to Wall Township in New Jersey for Game Two on Saturday before returning to Binghamton for Game Three on Sunday, of needed.
The eight divisional playoff champions will advance to the NA3HL Silver Cup Championship Tournament, where they will play a three- game round-robin format followed by a semi-final and a championship game at Canlan Ice Sports in Romeoville, Illinois, from March 29-April 2. The eight divisional playoff winners will be seeded 1-8 based on their regular season point totals. A round-robin format with two pools will be implemented, with the top two teams in each pool advancing to the Semi-Finals, where they will then cross over to play the other top two teams from the other pool. The winners of the Semi-Finals will advance to the Silver Cup Championship Game. In the event of a tie after round-robin play, a tiebreaking procedure adopted in the rules and regulations shall be used to break the tie.
