The Lockport Express edged ever closer to the NA3HL playoffs for the Northeast Division. After a pair of victories on Saturday and Sunday over the East Coast Minutemen, the Express now trail the Roc City Royals by a single point. Lockport has three games left in the regular season. Roc City has two remaining. Those two teams will face each other Friday evening at the Lakeshore Hockey Arena in Rochester.
A couple of Lockport players had a busy few days. Blake Bennett and Nick Grupp not only played in three games between Friday and Sunday, they also played in the NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament in Plymouth, Michigan. Both played an additional three games between Monday and Tuesday.
Playing for the Silver Prospects, Bennett had a pair of assists on Day One. Meanwhile, Grupp scored Black Prospects' lone goal in their first game of the tournament.
The Roc City game will be a very important one for the playoff prospects of both teams. A win for the Royals puts them three points up on the Express, while a Lockport win puts the Express into that final spot for the playoffs. The Express then have a pair of games on Saturday and Sunday at the Cornerstone Ice Arena against the East Coast Minutemen. Roc City has one more game after the Lockport game -- a game at Morrisville against the Syracuse Stampede.
For anyone traveling to Rochester for Friday night’s game, game time is scheduled for 8:30pm at the Lakeshore Hockey Arena. The arena is located at 123 Ling Road, Rochester, NY 14612.
Saturday’s game at Cornerstone is set to face off at 9:00pm, and Sunday’s game will be at 2:00pm. They are the final games for the Express this regular season.
