Catching Up With the Lockport Express Week 21

The Lockport Express grabbed 4 out of 6 points last weekend, including an all-important pair of points against the Roc City Royals. Lockport trails Roc City by 5 points, with four games in hand over the Royals. The Express split the other pair of games against the Skylands Kings. Roc City were handed two additional defeats after the Lockport game, to the Binghamton Junior Senators.

Lockport has a short week this week, travelling to Jamestown on Thursday for an odd mid-week game against the Southern Tier Xpress. Puck drop at the Jamestown Savings Bank Arena is scheduled for 11:00AM. Then, the Express will travel to Massachusetts for a pair of games against the East Coast Minutemen. Those games are make-ups for games that had to be scheduled last fall.

The East Coast Minutemen were 1 of 3 for the weekend. They won the first game Friday night, 6-4, over the Maine Wild. On Saturday the Long Beah Sharks blanked the Minutemen 6-0. The New England Stars handed East Coast another loss on Sunday, 6-3. They have 7 games remaining on the schedule, including four against Lockport.

The Southern Tier Xpress played a pair of game over the weekend on Saturday and Sunday against the West Michigan Wolves. They were able to split the games and grab two points on the weekend. In the first game, they won 2-1 over the Wolves. West Michigan responded on Sunday with a 5-2 victory. Southern Tier has 7 games remaining and are 13 points out of the final playoff spot in the East Division.

In Northeast Division action, Syracuse clinched a playoff spot with a 2-0 victory over the Jersey Shore Wildcats on Saturday evening. They were taken down by the Wildcats on Sunday 6-1. The Stampede still have 5 games remaining on their schedule.

Express Notes:
Andrew Logar, with his 4-point performance Sunday afternoon, overtook his brother, Ryan, as Lockport’s all-time leading scorer. Andrew has 88 ppoints in 82 games. Ryan had 87 points in 81 games. Ryan now plays for the Canisius College in their ACHA club program where he has 27 goals, 24 assists and 51 points in 34 games. He currently is ranked 11th on the top scorers list for the ACHA.

Lockport’s next home games will be the final games of the regular season for them. They will face off against the East Coast Minutemen at the Cornerstone Ice Arena on March 4th and 5th. All home games can be heard LIVE on Niagara’s Watercooler.
