The Lockport Express spent the last weekend at home with family members for the holiday, but they return to action Friday evening at the Cornerstone Ice Arena against the Southern Tier Xpress. Game time is at 8pm. It will be the lone game of the weekend for the Express.
The Express are in the midst of a 16-game winless streak that they are hoping to end Friday. While they did lose all three games in Syracuse two weeks ago, the team showed great improvement. Coach Frank Vecchio believes that the team is ready to reverse its fortunes. “After a couple games under our system and a couple weeks of practice, these guys know what we need to do. They’re ready.” Additionally, some of the injured Express players should be returning for Friday’s game.
Southern Tier dropped a home and home matchup with the Pittsburgh Vengeance. The first game, at the Jamestown Savings Bank Arena, was a 3-1 loss. The next night, the Xpress lost 7-4 in Pittsburgh. Southern Tier currently sits in 5th place in the East Division with a record of 6-10-1-0 for 13 points.
