Howie Balaban: Pop Culture As a Way of Life

If you’re at all active in social media – and by active, I mean you have an account on any of the platforms – chances are you’ve seen a meme, a gif, or noticed how there has been a trend in recent years of a significantly decreased “grey area” on a number of subjects. Among those subjects are tv shows, movies, the people cast in those forms of entertainment, how to watch those forms of entertainment, and politics.
For the sake of all our sanity, I’m NOT talking politics here.

The Dads Must Be Crazy Ep. 21: What's on the TV?

After an unexpected week off for emergency parenting, The Dads are back with an all new episode. This week, we start talking about those abrupt schedule changes in our daily lives when a kid gets sick, or we get sick before talking a little about Western New York Winters. Then we get to the meat of the show. With the coming of the cooler weather, we might actually have time to watch some TV. Reminiscing: Eh, Can You See?

Saturday night at dinner, we were talking about watching television when we were kids. Reminiscing: TV Land

I really don’t watch a lot of television, although my wife would sometimes like to beg to differ. Really, I don’t watch that much television. There are occasional days where it never even gets turned on. Honestly, when you figure that the average American in my age group watches over 33 hours a week, I am far behind my peers. It’s just about five hours a day in front of the tube. Two hours is about all I can handle these days.

Rest In Peace, Batman

I grew up in the late 60s and early 70s, which means that I was one of those fortunate people who got to listen to the best music and watch the best television shows ever made. Emergency!, Fantasy Island, and Batman were some great television, and I rarely ever missed an episode. The list of iconic 70s television shows is a long one, but at the top of that list sits Batman - for me and millions of others who grew up during that period. On Saturday, the Batcave closed for good when Adam West, the real Batman, passed away.
