Jersey Shore Hand Lockport Second Loss 3-1

The Lockport Express left the Atlantic shores of New Jersey with a pair of losses. The Wildcats delivered a second consecutive loss to the visiting Express Saturday evening, 3-1. The Express returns to Lockport 3-2 on the season, ready to take on division-leading Binghamton Junior Senators at the Ice House Sports Complex Saturday and Sunday.

Casey Wall got his first start in net for the Express, while Ryan Cote did the same for Jersey Shore. Once again, Lockport was outshot, this time 43-29. For the second consecutive game, neither team was successful on the powerplay. Lockport had 9 infractions totalling 39 minutes, while the Wildcats spent 41 minutes in the box on 10 penalties.

Viktor Vasilev opened the scoring for the home team with a goal 3:55 into the first period. He was assisted by David Vaysburg. Lockport responded at 14:04 with a goal by Aaron Shahin, his third of the season. Brandon Schweickert tallied the assist.

Vasilev scored unassisted for the lone score in the second period at 7:47. Jersey Shore closed out the scoring early in the third period with a goal by Travis Nemeth at 4:32. Vasilev was credited with the assist.

Next up for Lockport is a pair of away games in Binghamton against the Junior Senators. The Junior Senators remain atop the Northeast Division after a pair of wins this past weekend over the Cape Cod Islanders. Game time for Saturday’s match is 7:30pm. Sunday’s game is set to take place at 11:30am.
