Express Blanked in Jersey, 5-0

The Lockport Express visited Jersey Shore with high hopes on their young season. They headed to the Garden State riding a 3-game winning streak to meet the defending champions who were reeling after a pair of losses to open the season. Instead, it was Lockport who was reeling after a 5-0 drubbing Friday night.

Jordan Nolan opened the scoring at 16:35, assisted by Dan Suszek. The Wildcats added a second goal just under three minutes later by Dylan Plsek. Michael Gulawsky and Frederick Schaljo assisted.

Travis Nemeth increased the lead to 3-0 with a tally at 7:36 of the second period. Goals 4 and 5 came in the third period. Nikita Penzov and Jordan Nolan each scored. Penzov’s mark came at 5:07, while Nolan’s, his second of the game and an empty-netter, came at 8:30.

Lockport goaltender, Sam Fitzpatrick made 56 saves on 60 shots. His Jersey Shore counterpart, Zach Robbins, stopped all 32 shots he faced. The Express spent 10 minutes in the penalty box on 5 infractions. Jersey Shore accounted for 8 penalties and 16 minutes. Neither team scored on the power play.

The same two teams face off Saturday evening at 8:30pm at the Jersey Shore Arena.
